Chris is not an elephant in a donkey suit
I do not have any proof of my suspicion but I suspect that for a number of reasons, during the 2008 elections, some thought that Chris was really an elephant masquerading in a donkey suit. Why? In order to get elected. With four Democrats on the Council and Ure in a relatively tight race with Steve, a political unknown, I think the case can be made that in Summit County it is easier to get elected if one runs on the Democrat ticket.
Why would some think Chris an elephant?
1. Chris stated he has "a broad range of {business} interests in the County", thus he would be sympathetic to the needs of business owners and their employees throughout the County,
2. The campaign rhetoric of the 2008 election, and
3. Chris' religious affiliation, which is generally seen to support the Republican platform.
Since then, I believe it has become abundantly clear, by his votes on the Council, that in fact Chris is not an elephant masquerading in a donkey suit, but rather (with all due respect), simply a donkey.
On the other hand, I will be your voice and vote opposing a liberal/progressive agenda on the Summit County Council. If elected, I will give out a phone number which you can call whenever you believe I have indefensibly voted for or sided with the 'progressive' agenda and made a 'donkey' of myself.
Vote Gary Shumway for Summit County Council, Seat 'D'.
