Cutting to the chase
The bottom line is that Summit County voters have two choices this year in regards to selecting an individual to represent them on the Summit County Council.
If you believe that four liberal/Progressive Democrats on the five member Council best represents you and the County,
If you believe that having five Council members that 'work together well' is of paramount importance, regardless of where they are taking the county,
If you believe that a $1.6 million deficit which was subsequently covered by simply moving money around from other accounts, including a disaster fund, meets with your approval,
If you believe that a $2 million cost overrun on a $7.5 million public health building (one similar in size to that built by Weber County for some $3 million) is money well spent,
If you believe that increasing the County's long term debt by at least 25% and having the second lowest Quick Ratio (ability to pay short term debt) in at least ten years is responsible governance,
If you believe that the State conducting a full scale legislative audit of the County's real estate dealings is business as usual,
If you believe that a ABC4 News reported FBI investigation is a fabrication or irrelevant,
If you believe that it is not a problem that a member of the Council have extensive land holdings and business dealings in the County and yet apparently only recused himself once in nearly two years of legislation,
If you believe that a member of the Council who, in the selection of an interim County Treasurer, voted politics over the best qualified individual is sound financial management of your money,
If you believe that the Democrats who received 99% of their campaign funding (October 2008 report) from the West Side of Summit County can objectively represent all the residents of Summit County,
If you believe that not being able to readily obtain a list of the more important votes your Council makes is responsible and open governance,
If you believe that a left leaning Republican and four Democrats adequately represent the 20,800 active registered Republican, third party, and unaffiliated voters in the county,
If you believe that a fiscal conservative, Constitutionalist with three Master degrees who has attended every weekly Council meeting since June who funds his own campaigns will cause the Weber River to turn to blood, bring mayhem, locusts, and other plagues of biblical proportions to the County if he is elected,
...then you should vote for my opponent. If the above, in aggregate, constitute unacceptable governance/representation then please vote Gary Shumway for Summit County Council, Seat 'D'.
I am not asking you to change parties, just your vote. If you vote straight party, be sure that after voting straight party that you go down the ballot and cast a vote for Gary Shumway in the Summit County Council, Seat 'D' race. Note that there is no Republican in this contest. You must specifically vote for Gary Shumway for your vote to count. As the Constitution Party's platform is very similar to the Republican's, think of the 'C' after my name to mean Cousin. I will be your voice and vote on the Summit County Council.
