Synopsis

I was born in Bakersfield, California in 1949. We subsequently moved to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Flagstaff, AZ, and eventually landed in Phoenix where I went to grade school. I attended junior high school and high school in Hemet, California and graduated in 1967.

In the summer of 1967 I attended Utah State University and subsequently continued my studies (majoring in zoology/premed) at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. I married my high school sweetheart in 1969 when I was nineteen. While I was attending ASU, our first son, Gregory, was born in 1973.

I graduated from ASU in 1973 with a BS in psychology and began ASU's graduate program in psychology shortly thereafter. Our second son, Jeffrey was born in 1975. I received my MA degree in psychology in 1977 and finding jobs scare in Arizona, we moved to California where I obtained employment at and was accepted into the Doctor of Public Health program at Loma Linda University, School of Health.

Seeing that, at the time it was difficult to make a living with a DrPH degree, I changed to the Master of Public Health, Biostatistics program. I graduated with a Master of Public Health degree in 1978 and shortly thereafter went to work for the Loma Linda University Dental School as a computer programmer. Our daughter, Glenna was born in 1979.

In 1987, after eighteen years of marriage, we divorced. To date, this has been the second hardest life event that I've had to experience. Fortunately we lived only 45 minutes apart so we were able to jointly parent our children. In 1991, while working for the School of Dentistry, I obtained my MBA degree by attending night classes at California State University, San Bernardino. Also in 1991, I wrote and published my first book, Winging Through America, which is about my travel through the 48 conterminous states on my motorcycle. A super experience and I found Americans to be great people!

In 1993, our eldest son Gregory passed on. There is certainly nothing more difficult to endure.

In 1995, my work with Loma Linda School of Dentistry ended and I had to seek employment as a contract programmer elsewhere. From 1995 until 2002 I traveled around the United States having fascinating experiences in different parts of the United States. Imagine being able to see the U.S. and get paid for it. During this time I worked in Pittsburgh, PA, Glastonbury, CT, Uniondale, NY, Minneapolis, MN, Pasadena, CA, San Diego, CA, Charlotte, NC, Wayne, PA, Omaha, NE, Albuquerque, NM and finally Salt Lake City. During those years I made a number of friends with whom I still maintain contact and have had experiences that will be remembered for a life time.

The new millennium was an eventful year for me as I published my second book, SCUBA Scoop, and married Mary Ann. In 2002 we moved to Utah as I had a contract through HEC and EDS to do programming for the Veterans Administration Office of Information. We initially lived in an apartment in the Cottonwood area but moved up to the Wasatch Back in 2003. We love living in the mountains and have met some great people in the area.

I am campaigning to be a member of your Summit County Council in order to help select our first County Manager, present a voice that has no special interests or political favors to repay, and to assist in the supportable growth of Summit County.

Jobs Held

The more recent statistician and computer oriented jobs that I've held are detailed in my resume.

Yet, over the years, particularly while going to college, I have worked at many different jobs including:
stocker in a drug store, bundler of newspapers, emergency room/x-ray transporter, mortuary night visitation guide, zien filterman, janitor, dehydrated food sales, landscape maintenance, animal caretaker, flower delivery, painting, construction site night watchman, inventory helper, motorcycle mechanic, meat processing plant worker, construction site work, lab tech, cotton ginner, single family residence appraiser, etc.

With your help and vote, I will become the first member of Summit County Council in Seat 'D'!
